Frequently Asked Questions

Is the dashboard maker free?

Yes, you can build dashboards on the free tier. Free accounts can create private dashboards; paid plans unlock public sharing and sharing with specific users.

Do I need coding or design skills?

No. The dashboard builder is completely no-code. Add widgets, arrange rows, pick a theme - everything is done with clicks, not code.

What data can I use in a dashboard?

Upload CSV, XLSX, XLS, TSV, PSV, JSON or JSONL files, paste data directly, or connect Google Sheets. Each widget is backed by a sheet in your workspace.

Can one dashboard use data from multiple spreadsheets?

Yes. Add as many sheets as you need to a dashboard. Each widget can be backed by a different sheet, so one dashboard can summarize several spreadsheets at once.

What widgets can I add to a dashboard?

Four widget types: chart widgets (all InstaCharts chart types), sortable data table widgets, KPI widgets for headline metrics, and text widgets for formatted text and context.

Do dashboards update automatically when my data changes?

Yes. Dashboards always reflect the latest version of your sheets. If a sheet syncs with Google Sheets, spreadsheet changes flow through to every chart and data table on the dashboard.

Can I change the dashboard theme after building it?

Yes. Open Dashboard Settings, then Appearance, choose a main theme and check 'Update widgets with new theme' - every widget updates, including chart color schemes. Toggle on 'Customize theme' to fine-tune header color, background color and the default chart color scheme.

Do dashboards work on mobile?

Yes, dashboards are responsive and automatically resize for mobile devices, so your team can check the numbers from anywhere.

How do I share a dashboard?

Dashboards are shared with your workspace members by default. You can also share them publicly, or with certain other users (only if you have a paid account).

How is this different from Data Studio (formerly Looker Studio) or Power BI?

InstaCharts is spreadsheet-first and dramatically simpler: no data modeling, no connectors to configure, no learning curve. Upload a file or sync a Google Sheet and start placing widgets. It's built for people who live in spreadsheets, not BI teams.

Who can I contact if I need help or technical support?

You can reach our support team through the 'Help' section in your dashboard, or by emailing support@instacharts.io
