Slicers
Slicers are filters that live on a dashboard page instead of on a single chart. Add a slicer to a column and anyone viewing the dashboard, not just editors, can use it to filter every chart and data table on that page at once, without opening each widget’s own settings.
Adding a Slicer
In edit mode, click Add Slicer in the dashboard toolbar, next to Add Sheet and Add Widget. Search for and pick a column from any sheet used by widgets on the current page.
A column can only have one slicer. Once a column is picked, it no longer appears in the Add Slicer list for that page.
Setting Filter Values
Click a slicer to open its filter menu. What you see depends on the column.
Pick List
Text and Multiple Choice columns with a manageable number of distinct values (fewer than 100) get a checkbox pick list. Check the values you want to keep, or check All Items to clear the filter and show everything again.
Typed Filters
Numeric and date columns, and text columns with too many distinct values for a pick list, get the same filter types as a chart’s Column Filters:
- Text - Contains, Does not contain, Equals, Does not equal, Begins with, Ends with, Is blank, Is not blank
- Number - Equals, Does not equal, Greater than, Greater than or equal to, Less than, Less than or equal to, Between, Is blank, Is not blank
- Date - Equals, Does not equal, Before, After, Between, Is blank, Is not blank
Add up to 5 filter clauses to a single slicer, and choose whether they combine with And or Or.
How Slicers Affect Widgets
A slicer filters every chart and data table widget on the same page that reads from the sheet the slicer’s column belongs to. Widgets on other pages, or reading from a different sheet, are not affected.
Removing a Slicer
Click the x next to a slicer to delete it from the page. This removes the slicer for everyone; it’s an edit action, separate from clearing a slicer’s own filter values.
